Mise-en-scene

In my movie I wanted to go for a more 80s look to it. My reason for that is because now a days any problem can be solved now a days with technology and your smart phone. I would like to put my characters in a position where they don't have phones or technology to help them so they have to really on their friend and them selves.

I plan on doing that by putting in props and costume. The characters will be wearing more 80s like clothing. This will help with the illusion of the time the movie takes place. Here are a few examples of the vibe I'm looking for.

I will post a picture of my cast when we start shooting.

I plan on using many props in my scene also. My scene will include a rubrics cube, life the board game, action figures from the 80s,

The props and costume combined will be enough for my scene to give off the 80s vibe and let everyone know the time of era it is.

PLOT

Plot
Danny, Richie, Ray and Doof all get together at Danny's house to get together and hang out like usual. As they are playing board games The group decides to go into Danny's deceased dad’s office. Doof knocks over something that has a secret treasure map that his dad left behind.
Richie convinces Danny to go with them on the adventure and follow the map. The kids all there mom there staying at the other person's house for the weekend and embark on the adventure.
On the adventure the boys see new things, meet new people and grow closer to one another. The map first takes them through a forest close to where they live. They camp out one night in the forest and tell stories. When they wake up they notice all there food is gone and there equipment are broken. They follow a trail of food and find a sleeping bear. Before Danny can scream Richie and Ray shut his mouth. As they slowly try to sneak away from the bear, Doof accidently steps on a twig waking up the bear. The four boys run for their lives and take shelter in a trailer park trailer home. They wait a few hours for the bear to go away. Suddenly they hear gunshots and out the window they see two rednecks (Jean and Bobby) on ATVs. The gunshots scare off the bear. Before the rednecks go into the trailer the boys hide in a closet.
In the closet they over hear the rednecks talk about looking for Kevin Miller’s (Danny's dad) last treasure. When the rednecks leave in the afternoon so do the boys.
The forest area becomes more rocky than grasslands. At this point Danny is insisting to go back but the rest won't budge. They stumble across a cave and a little diner next to it. The map says they need to go through the cave next but the boys, starving, go into the diner first and get pancakes. The waitress asks the boys what they're doing out here. They lie and say their dog ran off and they were gonna check the cave. The waitress says if the dog went in there he's probably dead. THere are rumors that a hairy monster lives in the caves. All the boys get nervous. They still go through the cave using Ray’s He-man flash light as a source of light.
In the cave they do end up hearing a strange noise and they turn the light towards the noise and see a hairy man staring at them with a machete. The boys run like crazy. All there screams combined make the old caves top collapse separating the boys from the hairy man. They see a faint light and run towards it. It's a waterfall and the only way out of the cave is to jump into the river below. Danny is unable to jump so the kids have to push him down then they all come after.
It becomes night and the boys are wet and cold. They come across a small town and sneak into a school and swap clothes with the school's gym uniforms. Then Richie says wouldn't you love to do anything in school when no one's around. The boys proceed to have fun and Danny's starting to enjoy themselves.
The next morning the boys make it to a crater a few miles from the school where the map says is the treasure. They tell Danny that he deserves to dig it up. Danny digs up a treasure chest and picks up what's inside but we don't see what it is. Then he hears someone say “Hand over the treasure… my boy…” Danny turns over and sees Jean and Bobby holding Richie, Ray and Doof with a gun pointed at them. Richie tells Danny to run away but Danny clenches his fist and say “you want the treasure so bad, TAKE IT” and throws it in the opposite direction. The boys run off and sees the waitress from the Diner in a car.
She says she saw them go into the cave and never come back so she went after them and offers them a lift home. On the way home Danny's asks the group if they want to play outside when they get home instead of do stuff indoors and Richie happily gives Danny a noogie and says “of course bud”. Then they all hug and then a crane shot shows the car drive off into the distance ending the movie.

Characters

So after research I have came to a conclusion that a lot of movie/TV groups of kids involve four members. I have listed some examples.
Image result for goonies characters
"The Goonies"- Mouth, Mike, Data, Chunk (left to right)

Image result for stand by me
"Stand by Me"- Gordie, Chris, Vern, Teddy (left to right)

Image result for stranger things
"Stranger Things"- Lucas, Dustin, Mike, Eleven (Left to Right)

Image result for south park
South Park- Stan, Kyle, Cartman, Kenny (left to right)

So I have also decided to pick a group of four to star in my movie.

Danny Miller (played by Jacob Bankoff)- The main character of the squad. Danny's dad was an architect before dieing from a digging accident when Danny was 7. Ever since that day Danny has been more of a inside person, not really going outside and doing adventurous things. Although hes more on the dull side his love for his family and friends is huge. Lives with mom and older sister.

Richard 'Richie' Smith (played by Ricardo Perez)- Danny's best friend since he was 5. Richard usually goes by Richie to his friends. The two know each other like the back of there own hands, Richie has always been an adventurous person and loves playing outside. Richie knows how hard it is for Danny so he spends more time with him inside then playing outside. Deep down Richie knows the only way for Danny to get better is to go outside and open up more to the world. Richie lives with both parents and has no other siblings.

Ray Davis (played by Raul Valerio)- Ray is the brains of the operation. An honor roll student and reads at an above average level. He met Danny, Richie, and Doof only two years ago. Although he is the last member to join the group he is loved the same. Ray is amazing at problem solving and is the best by far at board games. Ray lives with his parents and younger brother

Matt 'Doof" Johnson (played by Caleb Espinosa)- Doof is the Kenny McCormick of the group meaning he is a man of few words. Never mentioned by his real name, Doof met Danny and Richard when they were all 6. Doof got his nick name by his high clumsiness. Doof cannot go anywhere without breaking something or making a mess worst. Doof lives with only his mom and grandma. His dad left him before he was born.
